Publisher Aniplex and developers Too Kyo Games have released the first character trailer for The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy.

This trailer features six characters, including the protagonist, Takumi Sumino, and another character in a Kodaka work voiced by Megumi Ogata.
Whilst the trailer is yet to have been released in english, we have introductions to the characters showcased, which were added to the official website:

    • Takumi Sumimo (Everyman, cv: Taihi Kimura) – The main character of this story. A completely average high school boy from a completely average family. He can be a little indecisive and pessimistic at times, but when he has something to protect, he‘ll fight with everything he‘s got.
    • Darumi Amemiya (Manic Emo Dream girl, cv: Fairouz Ai) – A girl known for her mood swings and obsession with all things dark and depressing. She‘s a big fan of killing game stories and has no fear of death. If she has to die, all she wants is a death that‘s as dramatic and flamboyant as humanly possible.

    • Eito Aotsuki (Voice of Reason, cv: Takahiro Sakurai) – Takumi’s most trusted ally. Eito cares very deeply for his friends and isn’t shy about expressing those feelings, corny as they may sound. He’s been weak and sickly since he was little, but his impressive intellect might be just what the team needs to guide them through the war safely.
    • Ima Tsukumo (Twin- Big Brother, cv: Megumi Ogata) – One of a set of twins—Ima is the elder by a few minutes. He acts like a carefree joker, but underneath that humor is a hint of something darker. A hardcore siscon, he thinks of nothing but protecting his sister. If anything or anyone dares to threaten Kako’s safety, Ima will show them no mercy.
    • Kako Tsukumo (Twin- Little Sister, cv: Rikako Ito) – One of a set of twins—Kako is the younger by a few minutes. She’s prone to spacing out, but also has a keen mind and a healthy sense of curiosity. Kako is a big fan of mystery stories and wants to be a private investigator when she grows up.
    • Kurara Oosuzuki (Rich Girl Among Rich Girls, cv: Yui Ogura) – The scion of one of the most wealthy families humanity has ever known. She’s proud, overbearing, and acts like she’s better than anyone else. She always wears a strange tomato mask, never showing her true face.

The official website also contains character renders for both casual and battle outfits.
You can watch the trailer below.

This project by the creators of Danganronpa (Kazutaka Kodaka) and Zero Escape (Kotaro Uchikoshi) features protagonist Takumi Sumino, an average teenager living in the Tokyo Residential Complex before monsters start attacking. However, a creature named Sirei appears and offers him the power to protect those he cherishes, but it requires him to stab himself in the chest.

Takumi then finds himself in the Last Defense Academy, a school in the middle of nowhere, where he and 14 other students are drafted into the Special Defense Unit. They’re tasked with keeping the school safe for the next 100 days.

Takumi’s choices can lead to 100 “extreme despair-filled endings,” and the SRPG battles that will need players to take advantage of each student’s Specialist Skills. Further, you will be able to bond with teammates and use items to craft gifts and get closer to them.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy launches on April 24 for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
