Visual Novel ‘Nekopara After: La Vraie Famille’ Launches on Sekai Project Store as Steam Release Remains in Review Limbo

NEKO WORKs has officially launched Nekopara After: La Vraie Famille on PC via the Sekai Project online store with a free patch available on Denpasoft. Despite plans for a simultaneous release, the Steam version remains in limbo as the game continues to undergo review with no updates from Valve to Sekai Project or the developer.

Originally envisioned as DLC for Nekopara Vol. 4, this new entry evolved into a full standalone title to commemorate the franchise’s 10th anniversary. It introduces Fraise, a French catgirl who arrives in Japan after La Soleil’s French branch closes. Raised by Beignet, she’s entrusted to protagonist Kashou Minaduki, adding a fresh layer of romantic conflict among his six catgirl companions. Fraise seeks advice from Kashou’s sister Shigure, unaware that she, too, harbors feelings for him.

What follows is a romantic tug-of-war between Fraise and Shigure, as both prioritize each other’s happiness while navigating their feelings for the same person. Themes of love, loyalty, and family intertwine as the dynamic among the characters shifts.

La Vraie Famille features animated character sprites, Japanese voice acting (excluding the protagonist), and multilingual support in English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese. Longtime artist and creator Sayori returns for character designs, with the scenario written by Murasaki Yukiya. The game also includes the theme song “Contrail,” performed by Ceui.

While the release on the Sekai Project storefront moves forward, the Steam version’s status remains uncertain. Sekai Project submitted the final build on May 5 and responded to a follow-up request shortly after, but has since received no communication from Valve. This isn’t the first time a Nekopara entry has faced platform delays due to adult content concerns, though specifics have not been disclosed.
