To celebrate the official Steins;Gate Day in Japan, MAGES posted a new 20-minute gameplay video of Steins;Gate Re:Boot featuring the prologue.
In 2023, the official Japan Anniversary Association announced that July 28 is Steins;Gate Day due to its immense popularity and cultural impact.
Re:Boot is based on the scenario Steins;Gate Elite, but adds new dialogue, revised pacing, and a new worldline and ending scenario not present in previous releases. There is also significantly more story text than in earlier versions.
All character art, backgrounds, and event illustrations have been recreated from scratch. The number of event CGs has been doubled compared to the original Xbox 360 release, while background artwork has increased by roughly 20%.
Steins;Gate follows Rintarou Okabe, who accidentally discovers the ability to send text messages to the past, thereby altering the present. Alongside his friends Mayuri and Itaru Daru, Okabe experiments with these time-altering messages. Their discoveries attract the attention of the organization SERN, forcing Okabe into a dangerous struggle to protect his friends and maintain his grip on reality.
Then, Okabe meets Kurisu Makise, a prodigious scientist. Together, they uncover the mechanics and consequences of time travel. However, Okabe must confront the emotional and moral cost of changing the past, forcing him to navigate between multiple timelines, or worldlines, to prevent needless suffering.
Steins;Gate Re:Boot will be released for Switch, Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 on October 29, 2026, while Xbox Series X|S and Steam will receive the title on August 20, 2026.
Steins;Gate Octet of Shifting Space will be released in the West on Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
