New details surrounding the previously announced Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 have been revealed in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu. The title is currently planned to release at an unspecified date in 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Regarding gameplay, Turbo Mode will be included at launch, ideal for those seeking to enter a specific story route without spending needless time. Airship technology will be improved for supportive actions as well, including supply replenishment, though further specifics have not been stated.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 will take place one year after the previous game’s true ending. Additionally, developer CyberConnect 2 revealed that those who have played the first game and still possess its save data could choose to transfer their save data for currently unknown benefits. Moreover, the narrative is stated to be double the length of the first game’s story, and the protagonist will still be Malt, the main character from the previous title.

A significant story mechanic will be the Judgment System, divided between Empathy and Resolve. The course of the story will alter depending on the choices made via this system, with character interactions inherently changing.

We’ll be sure to keep you all updated about this title’s upcoming release.

A Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 news broadcast will also occur tomorrow at 7 AM ET/ 4 AM PT. Fans can set a reminder for the live stream below:

Fuga: Melodies of Steel tells the story of a group of anthropomorphic animal kids caught in the middle of a war. As the Berman empire invades the Free Lands of Gasco, they take up arms to save their loved ones. During the initial shock of war reaching the small pacific village they lived in, the children find a massive tank with a special cannon capable of devastating attacks at the cost of sacrificing one of themselves.

The gameplay of Fuga has players follow an order of actions. The player’s arsenal is a tank with a Machine Gun that can delay an enemy’s turn, Cannon, which weakens enemy armor, and Heavy Cannon, which does heavy damage. Players may position their characters within each turn, and depending on the character, there will be a special effect. Special effects include Heavy Shot, Armor Break, Multi-shot and more, and this differs from character to character. At the end of each battle, players will be ranked.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Unfortunately, sales have been much lower than the developer expected. Still, creative director Yoann Gueritot has already announced plans to continue the series, as the world of Little Tail Bronx is very dear to CyberConnect2. Other games in the franchise include the classics Tail Concerto and Solatorobo.

The game was also the first of their self-published projects and part of what the company called the Trilogy of Vengeance. However, we haven’t heard anything about the other two titles previously announced, Tokyo Ogre Gate and Cecile. We’ll keep you updated when the company announces more details about those.
