TMXN Games has announced that its asymmetric PvP social deduction game Among Shadows will launch for PC via Steam Early Access on September 24, 2026. It will be priced at $10.99, and a playable demo will be available through August 31.
Among Shadows supports matches with up to 10 players and takes place in a country suffering from an apocalyptic infection. Most players take the role of Envoys serving the Order of the Secret Fire. Their objective is to locate sources of the infection, cleanse them, and protect the Lord and his citizens. Hidden among the group are Apostles from the Underworld who are working against everyone else.
Combat plays out in real time, with ten different Envoys offering their own techniques. The Samurai specializes in swordplay, the Wind Talker can cast lightning attacks, and the heavily armored Paladin uses holy strikes. Players can also gather materials and scrolls while exploring to forge weapons and gain advanced spells.
Apostles can sabotage the Envoys’ efforts and set traps while attempting to assassinate the Lord. Once the Blood Moon rises, hostile creatures also begin attacking, leaving the Envoys to deal with undead enemies while keeping an eye on potential traitors within their own group.
Sources of infection can appear at locations such as village wells and forbidden cult gatherings. Players must investigate these locations and cooperate to cleanse them while determining who in the group is secretly working for the opposing side.
Each night, surviving players can return to the church and call a Judgment. These meetings let the group compare information via voice chat and try to identify the Apostles before another round of sabotage begins.
