Sekai Project and NEKO WORKs have officially released Nekopara After: La Vraie Famille on PC via Steam after a prolonged review delay. Initially launched on the Sekai Project storefront earlier this month, the visual novel’s Steam release had been stalled in Valve’s approval process since early May.
Originally planned as DLC for Nekopara Vol. 4, the project grew into a standalone title to mark the franchise’s 10th anniversary. The story centers around Fraise, a French catgirl transferred to Japan after the closure of La Soleil’s French branch. Entrusted to Kashou Minaduki by her guardian Beignet, Fraise’s presence shakes up the household, stirring romantic tensions among Kashou’s six catpanions.
The narrative takes a more dramatic turn as Fraise finds herself in a love triangle with Kashou and his younger sister Shigure, who quietly struggles with her own feelings. This emotional core is underscored by themes of family and personal sacrifice, further expanding the relationships established in previous entries.
La Vraie Famille features animated character sprites, Japanese voice acting (excluding the protagonist), and support for English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese text. Sayori reprises her role as character designer, with Murasaki Yukiya handling scenario writing. The title also includes the theme song “Contrail” by Ceui.
Nekopara After: La Vraie Famille is available now on PC via Steam and the Sekai Project online store with a free patch available on Denpasoft.
