HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.0, titled A Sleepwalker’s Confession, will launch on June 17, starting the game’s third season. The title’s Steam version will launch on the same date.
Season 3’s story takes place in Roscaelifer, a floating city located within a restricted zone. After Ether energy within the protagonist’s body begins spiraling out of control once again, the Mayor of New Eridu sends the Proxies to investigate. Upon arrival, they meet Velina, Administrative Director of the External Strategy Department (ESD), and begin learning more about a power known as Pyrois.
The story also explores growing unrest surrounding the ESD’s Bangboo chip program. Reports of self-destructing Bangboo units, unusual Hollow activity within the city’s Energy Hub, and the apparent reappearance of first-generation Void Hunter Remielle Dan all become prominent in Roscaelifer.
Version 3.0 introduces two new S-Rank Agents. Velina becomes the game’s first Wind attribute Agent, filling an Anomaly role focused on applying the new Windswept status effect. Windswept can interact with other Attribute Anomalies to trigger a Vortex effect that spreads damage to nearby enemies.
The update also adds Norma, a Fire attribute Stun Agent and chief technician within the ESD. Her combat style revolves around generating additional Chain Attack opportunities. Returning characters Ye Shunguang and Sunna will also appear alongside reruns of their exclusive W-Engines.
Players can visit attractions including Roarin’ Brekkies, which offers daily random rewards, and the Spotlight Theater, where Bangboo performers take center stage. A sky bus route can also be unlocked through hidden conditions.
The new Universal Terminal system expands investigative capabilities by allowing players to access surveillance cameras, conduct first-person reconnaissance, and operate drones alongside Eous. Meanwhile, the Scamall Hollow introduces high-speed aerial traversal powered by Pyrois’ unique abilities, as well as dimensional anomalies that alter environmental puzzles and exploration routes.
A new collection feature called Interboo will track discoveries made across Roscaelifer and reward players with Polychromes and other materials as they complete exploration objectives.
Several permanent gameplay additions are arriving as part of Season 3. Bangbang! The Genius and the Miracle Chip introduces management-focused content where players command Collaborator squads to repair the Central Computing Hub and conduct research projects. Annihilation Simulacrum adds a new endgame challenge mode centered around difficult boss encounters without elemental advantages or weaknesses.
Version 3.0 also includes quality-of-life improvements. Drive Disc management has been streamlined with a new Smart Discard function, while tuning menus now prioritize active build plans. Character accessories such as glasses, earrings, and headwear will become interchangeable across outfits. PC players with supported hardware will also gain access to upgraded ray-traced global illumination, along with DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation support.
To celebrate the start of Season 3, all players will receive the Phaethon faction Agent Pyrois for free after progressing through the new storyline. A themed protagonist outfit will also be available at no cost. HoYoverse confirmed that future updates will also distribute all of Pyrois’ Mindscapes and the exclusive W-Engine free of charge.
Players can also claim a total of 1,600 Polychromes, with 600 available when Version 3.0 launches and an additional 1,000 arriving on July 4 to commemorate Zenless Zone Zero’s second anniversary.
Zenless Zone Zero is available on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and mobile devices via iOS and Android.
