HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.2, titled Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, will launch on September 4, 2025. The update introduces a new faction, the Obol Squad, events, and quality-of-life changes.
The Obol Squad makes its debut with new playable agents: Seed, a mechanic who fights alongside his custom Seed Sr. mecha, and Orphie & Magus, the unit’s captain who commands laser attacks and powers up allies through coordinated EX Specials. Both are S-Rank Attack Agents designed to bolster team damage. The squad also brings in a new Bangboo companion, Mercury, to provide tank support.
Returning favorites include S-Rank Electric Stun Agent Trigger and S-Rank Fire Attack Agent Evelyn. Meanwhile, Soldier 0 – Anby remains in training, with her powered-up return set for a future update.
Version 2.2 also introduces new limited-time events. Band of Brave Bangboo, a tower defense mode, challenges players with new mechanics such as stealthy bushes and the hazardous Miasmic environment.
Completing stages unlocks rewards, including the new A-Rank Excaliboo. Rhythm Rave offers a lighter distraction, tasking players with syncing to music tracks for bonus rewards.
HoYoverse has also continued implementing refinements, including allowing players to pick Belle or Wise as their companion for certain events like Quality Time invites.
A new trailer was released to showcase the Obol Squad and their role in the unfolding conflict in Waifei Peninsula.
Zenless Zone Zero is available on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and mobile devices via iOS and Android.
