Square Enix has shared a new interview with Final Fantasy VII Remake Co-Directors Naoki Hamaguchi and Motomu Toriyama about the upcoming DLC FF7R Episode INTERmission, coming to PlayStation 5 on June 10, 2021.
Toriyama-san was asking about what makes Yuffie so popular and he seems to think that it’s because she “was the type of person who would appear wherever and whenever she pleased… and you’d never know whether or not she was going to join you.” However, he failed to address that she was most of our chosen waifus at the time. Maybe I’m speaking of my own memory of the character, but she was the closest to my age when I first played so that’s why I liked her.
In the original game, Yuffie would steal your material, but Toriyama-san shared, “Don’t worry – in the new episode Yuffie’s the protagonist, so rest assured you don’t have to worry about your valuable materia getting taken away.” Further, Hamaguchi-san followed up by confirming new Materia will be available that wasn’t included in Final Fantasy VII Remake.
When it comes to the Moogle outfit, it’s a callback to her disguise from Dirge of Cerberus Final Fantasy VII, but it doesn’t do much to allow her to blend in. This only sells her personality though.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will also launch as a physical and digital edition. There’s a digital deluxe version that comes with a mini-soundtrack and digital artbook. Also, those who pre-order will receive a Cacstar weapon for Yuffie to use in battle.
As of right now, the story content seems to only be available on PS5, as the publisher states, “Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, the PS5 enhancement update, and the standalone downloadable episode featuring Yuffie will be available for the PS5 console worldwide on June 10, 2021.”
