Ys X Nordics Music Potentially Previewed

Developer Nihon Falcom recently hosted the first episode of a new radio show on March 31, 2023, and then uploaded it onto their official YouTube channel on April 3, 2023. This is replacing the company’s previous radio show centered around the latest entry in the Trails series, The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki II Crimson Sin.

This particular episode is quite significant as it contains what many fans consider new music from the upcoming action JRPG Ys X Nordics. This theory has been further proven by a recent tweet from Falcom stating the following, translated by our team’s Ryuji:

“Despite her elegant looks, she is a girl that fights ruthlessly and effectively.”

The [Japanese] voice actress of Carja, Lynn, had a lot to talk about [in this iteration of the Falcom Radio]!

We also recommend giving the title call BGM* and the background music a careful listen.

*Title call BGM: The BGM that plays at the start of a radio program.

So, while not outright confirmed, it’s highly probable that the developer is teasing that this new music heard at the start of the radio program is indeed from Ys X Nordics. Unfortunately, only ten seconds of this track are clearly listenable, with speech overtaking it after that amount of time.

You can listen to the new radio program that potentially teases music from Ys X Nordics below:

Ys X Nordics will occur between Ys II and Memories of Celceta, making it the new third canonical entry in Adol Christin’s adventure logs. The gameplay has undergone a significant shakeup, with there only being two playable characters this time around.

Special maneuvers can be unlocked via story scenes and exploration, allowing for environmental interaction. Further, in solo mode, the character you’re not controlling performs actions judged by their own discretion.

Unused Ys Seven concepts are being utilized in this outing, too. Ys X Nordics will allow players considerable explorative freedom, enabling naval travel with a recruitable crew and ship combat.

Ys X Nordics will launch in Japan for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in 2023.
