UPDATE: Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana Removed from PS Plus Extra Tier; Not Planned & NISA Investigating

Recently, the PlayStation 4 version of the Nihon Falcom-developed action JRPG, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, has been mysteriously removed from the PlayStation Plus service’s Extra Tier. However, the other Ys title accessible via the service for Western audiences, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, is still available.

Circumstances regarding this game’s removal were not revealed, but in a statement to outlet Push Square, publisher NIS America announced that it was unintentional and that they are currently investigating:

“Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA not appearing PS Plus Extra was not planned and we are currently looking into the details. We would not remove any titles from any platform without prior communication through our channels.”

Perhaps some sort of conflict occurred following Ys VIII’s native PlayStation 5 launch? We’re unsure, but hopefully, the title greets the service sooner rather than later for expanded audience reach.

UPDATE 11/23/2022: NIS America has fixed the issue, so Ys VIII is now available on the PlayStation Plus Extra Tier once again.

The title is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The PS5 version includes all cosmetic DLC from every previous version of the game. In addition, enhanced performance and graphical updates are also featured.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana kickstarted the series’ popularity in the West during its initial Vita and PS4 release. It contains a memorable narrative, addictive combat, a stellar soundtrack, multiple difficulty levels, a plethora of side content, and much more.

A native PlayStation 5 version of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox was announced for Spring 2023.
