Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana PC Version Still Getting Updates Over 4 Years Later; 2 Issues & Minor Bugs Fixed

Prominent port optimizer Peter “Durante” Thoman, PH3, has announced that a new patch is available for the Steam version of the NIS America-published and Nihon Falcom-developed action JRPG, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. For those unaware, this game’s PC port has faced countless obstacles since its initial launch, hence why it’s still getting updated over four years later.

Durante’s patch notes state the following:

  • Fixed the drawing of alpha-tested vegetation in some circumstances.
  • Prevent the game from becoming unresponsive during loading on some systems.
  • Fix some remaining minor script issues and inconsistencies.

In case unexpected problems occur, you can revert to our previous release version by selecting the “ph3_1.0” beta branch on Steam.

It’s equally impressive and astonishing that efforts are still being made to optimize this port as much as possible. Immense thanks to Durante and his team for continuing to pursue such endeavors.

The PS5 version will include all cosmetic DLC from every previous version of the game, and there will be a performance mode at 120 FPS with 1080p and a graphical-focused mode at 60 FPS with 4K.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana kickstarted the series’ popularity in the West during its initial Vita and PS4 release. It contains a memorable narrative, addictive combat, a stellar soundtrack, multiple difficulty levels, a plethora of side content, and much more.

A native PlayStation 5 version of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox was announced for Spring 2023.
