Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA Gets Huge PC Update Adding Experimental Local Co-op Feature

NIS America announced a new update is available for the PC Steam version of the Falcom-developed action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA. The update is available now.

The update will add a number of improvements to the game. Players will see an upgrade in the graphics, performance, stability, input, and UI. Durante has corrected many of the game’s systems, from shadows to running animations. Post-processing effects have also been fixed in the game which PC players will appreciate during dialogue.

However, the biggest improvement can be found in a new experimentation local co-op feature that allows players to play through the adventure together. That said, the feature isn’t planned for release on the console version at this time, but it’d be interesting to see.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA stars everyone’s favorite silent adventurer, Adol, as his ship gets attacked and he finds himself stranded on a mysterious island. As he and the other survivors set up camp, he is tasked with exploring the island to find other survivors and a possible way home. What he finds though is a much larger adventure than he could have ever imagined.

Gameplay has players switch between characters who each have a specialized attack. Monsters have weaknesses that players will need to take advantage up and over time they’ll level up and become stronger. Additionally, Adol learns new skills that allow him access to new areas.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo Switch.
