Ys: The Oath in Felghana Memoire PlayStation & Steam Ports Depend on Fan Reception, Says Falcom President

The Japanese outlet Gamer recently interviewed the president of developer Nihon Falcom, Toshihiro Kondo, regarding the future of the Ys series. In regards to the upcoming Ys: The Oath in Felghana Memoire, Kondo stated that the title may see Steam or PlayStation ports depending on fan reception.

The question and response below have been translated via our team’s Ryuji:

Interviewer: Regarding Felghana, are the plans to release it exclusively on the Switch?

Kondo: Nothing is set in stone yet, but in regards to Ys X, I feel it will be a turning point for us because this won’t be a port but a completely original title.

Of course, Felghana is a highly acclaimed game, to begin with, so we also want to make it playable on current consoles as soon as possible. We will listen to various opinions and see what the response is, and depending on the situation, we may consider developing Steam or PlayStation ports in the future.

Hopefully, these ports do occur at some point down the line because I would love to achieve a Platinum trophy for Felghana.

This release will boast selectable character portraits from the original Felghana and newly drawn ones, a Turbo Mode, full voice acting and narration, and the choice between three variations of the soundtrack. Throughout this particular chronicle of Adol Christin’s adventures, he explores the home region of his travel companion, Dogi.

The central city, Redmont, is suffering from financial straits under its ruler, and Chester, the brother of Dogi’s childhood friend, Elena, has seemingly gone rogue to support this treacherous monarch. The game is the second to utilize the Napishtim engine, comprising challenging boss battles and transparent skill progression depicted via magic and experience levels.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana Memoire will launch for Nintendo Switch on April 27, 2023, in Japan.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana Memoire on Nintendo Switch in Asia with Traditional Chinese and Korean language support on May 25, 2023.
