Ys Origin Gets Switch Release Date in the West and New Trailer

Dotemu announced that the Falcom-developed action-RPG Ys Origin will launch on Nintendo Switch on October 1.

This version of the game includes the speedrun mode added to the Xbox One release and several boss encounters in the Devil’s Tower.

Ys Origin brings this hack-and-slash action title to Switch, where players will be able to explore dungeons, fight dozens of different enemies, participate in platforming sections, and complete puzzles. The publisher also released a new trailer to give players a preview of the classic title running on Switch hardware.

The game takes place 700 before the events of Ys I & II as the land of Ys is on the brink of destruction. Demons have arrived, which caused two goddesses to retreat their people to the clouds. However, a tower was erected in pursuit and now it’s time to take it down.

Ys Origin was released in Japan in 2006 and released on PC in 2012 in the west until it was ported to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2017, with an Xbox One release that followed. The game follows a knight by the name of Yonica Tovah and a mage named Hugo Fact. These two fighters are searching for the Goddesses that have abandoned them. Together, they will enter a tower full of beasts in hopes of fighting their way to the top.

A physical release is available from Limited Run Games.
