Publisher XSEED Games has announced that they updated the PC version of the Nihon Falcom-developed action JRPG Ys Origin. Now, players can experience language support for French, Italian, German, and Spanish on the Steam and GOG versions of the game.
Ys Origin is a prequel to the franchise, set seven centuries before the events of the fitst title. This entry follows three protagonists, Yunica, Hugo, and an unlockable third, who all traverse the Devil’s Tower throughout their campaigns. However, the third character’s campaign is the canonical one.
The combat features the Napishtim engine, which was used in Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim and Ys: The Oath in Felghana. Ys Origin was the final title in the series to use this engine, meaning it’s the most polished. Players will battle several bosses and progress in a metroidvania-like format as they unlock movement skills and other abilities to reach the top of the tower.
Ys Origin is also available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox via publisher Dotemu.
Ys X Nordics is available in Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
