Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Native PS5 Port Highlights Cosmetic DLC

Publisher NIS America has recently started highlighting the cosmetic DLC set to be featured in the upcoming native PlayStation 5 port of the Nihon Falcom-developed JRPG, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. Like the native PlayStation 5 port of Ys VIII: Lacrmiosa of Dana, Ys IX will include all previously released DLC, making it the definitive package.

So far, eyewear, masks, and musings have been lightly showcased, with the lattermost being text boxes that can be affixed to the character you’re controlling. Further, there are also weapon skins and ride-along plushies.

We’ll update this article if any more images are shared, but you view the currently revealed ones via our gallery below:

UPDATE 5/5/2023: More included costume DLC has been highlighted:

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is currently the latest chronological entry in the franchise, where the series protagonist, Adol Christin, is 24 years old. It follows the red-haired hero as he becomes a captive in the prison city of Balduq. Adol quickly becomes a supernatural entity known as a Monstrum, and he allies with those also “gifted” with the power. The group gradually unveils truths regarding the Romun Empire.

Ys IX is the fourth game in the series to utilize the party combat system, meaning that characters other than Adol are playable. In addition, every party member has a specific attack attribute (Strike, Slash, and Pierce) that is highly effective against varying enemies. Further, this entry embraces exploration more than any previous game.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will launch for PlayStation 5 on May 9, 2023, in North America and on May 12, 2023, in Europe. The title is currently available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This incoming version will include all DLC with enhanced performance.
