Ys: Age of Heroes Tabletop RPG Opens Playtesting Registration for Early 2024

Promethium Books, a “publisher of the Curesbrand ChroniclesEpic Age, and Advent Horizon tabletop role-playing games,” previously announced a collaboration with developer Nihon Falcom to produce two original tabletop RPG games based on the Trails and Ys franchises. The two titles, Ys: Age of Heroes and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Destiny, are scheduled to be released in 2024.

Now, the team has announced that sign-ups for playtesting Ys: Age of Heroes and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Destiny are now available. While no precise date was given, participants can expect to begin playtesting Ys: Age of Heroes in early 2024.

You can view Promethium Books’ full message below:

“Promethium Books is looking for heroes, heroines, and heroix to playtest material for the officially licensed Nihon Falcom TTRPGs: Ys: Age of Heroes and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Destiny. We need adventurers of all levels and varying backgrounds to join us on this journey to ensure that we get the most comprehensive feedback possible. When signing up below you’re given the option to sign up for both games, so don’t wait and sign up today!

We will begin playtesting in early 2024 for Ys: Age of Heroes.”

There are no updates on The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Destiny. You can stay up to date via Promethium Books’ official website.

Ys X Nordics is available in Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

Ys X Nordics occurs between Ys II and Memories of Celceta, making it the new third canonical entry in Adol Christin’s adventure logs. The gameplay has undergone a significant shakeup, with there only being two playable characters this time around.

Special maneuvers can be unlocked via story scenes and exploration, allowing for environmental interaction. Further, in solo mode, the character you’re not controlling performs actions judged by their own discretion. Adol will be controlling a ship for combat and island hopping, too.

Unused Ys Seven concepts are utilized in this outing, too. Ys X Nordics allows players considerable explorative freedom, enabling naval travel with a recruitable crew and ship combat.
