Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair Gets PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC Release Date and New Trailer
Team17 announced that the Playtonic Games developed adventure platformer, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 8.
Additionally, the game will see the return of “Tonics”, which are modifying potions first encountered in the original Yooka-Laylee. There will be more than 60 Tonics to be collected, giving players the able to mix up the game in new ways. During Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, Tonics will also unlock new environmental and visual effects as well as infinite rolling and tougher enemies.
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is not exactly what fans of the genre are used to seeing after the team released the first entry in the series as a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie. Instead, the team has created more of a streamlined platformer that modern gamers are more accustomed to as the game will have an overworld 3D map which leads to sidescrolling levels. It’s going to be interesting to see how players will receive this, but the colorful levels and cute character might just be enough to win anyone over.
To celebrate the announcement, the developer has released a new trailer showing gameplay and characters as well as the newly announced return of Tonics.
