Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair Shows How Levels Change Throughout Multiple Routes in New Trailer

Team17 launched a new trailer for the Playtonic Games developed adventure platformer, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in Q4 2019.

The trailer highlights how the game’s stage will change throughout multiple routes. During gameplay, players will be tasked with rescuing members of Queen Phoebee’s Royal Beettalion from Capital B by exploring a new area known as the Impossible Lair. To do this they’ll need to traverse around a 3D overworld map and then enter over 20 2.5D levels in order to complete their goal.

However, throughout the story, players will trigger switches and discover secrets that dynamically alter levels and transform them. So it increases the number of levels to 40 as new areas open up.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is not exactly what fans of the genre are used to seeing after the team released the first entry in the series as a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie. Instead, the team has created more of a streamlined platformer that modern gamers are more accustomed to as the game will have an overworld 3D map which leads to sidescrolling levels. It’s going to be interesting to see how players will receive this, but the colorful levels and cute character might just be enough to win anyone over.
