RPG ‘Yo-Kai Watch 4’ Coming West for Switch
During Level-5’s panel at Anime Expo 2019, the developer and publisher revealed that the recently-released and new Yo-Kai Watch game, Yo-Kai Watch 4: We’re Looking Up at the Same Sky, will be coming to the west for the Nintendo Switch. No release details have been shared just yet, however, Level-5 did mention they want to release it “very, very soon.”
For the western release, the working title, Yo-Kai Watch 4, was shared in the trailer that was shown during the panel. Even though this is the fourth title in the series, it’s quite a bit different than the previous titles.
For starters, Yo-Kai Watch 4 features a new third-person perspective rather than a top-down view found in the previous titles. In addition to this, there’s a new battle system that seems like it’s a blend of the battle systems in Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch and Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. The reason I say this is because the battle system in Yo-Kai Watch 4 has interactive, action-RPG combat (similar to Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch ), but it also allows you to switch between the protagonist and the yo-kai in your party (just like Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom.)
Key differences aside, the game lets players go on a grand adventure where they can cross between space and time to come and go between four different worlds. Given that this is a grand adventure, players can expect plenty of exploration gameplay as they explore all the worlds in the game, and find all sorts of yo-kai to be friends with.
We’ll be sure to get more details soon, but for now, here’s the most recent trailer for the Japanese version of the game:
