YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG Finally Gets Release Date For PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC; Vita Still Coming
Ysbryd Games and Ackk Studios announced that their long-awaited surreal RPG YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC/Mac on January 17. The PlayStation Vita version will have to wait for later in 2019.
YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG tells the story of a college graduate named Alex who has witnessed a woman vanishing from an elevator. In an effort to rescue her, he finds himself on an epic quest that gets grander the further down the rabbit hole he goes.
During gameplay, players will explore dungeons and puzzles that include traps and monsters. The game uses a turn-based battle combat system that allows the player to switch out party member and utilize mini-games as attacks. Weapons in the game include records, cameras, musical instruments, and other hipster items.
“YIIK is an unusual mix of almost hallucinatory imagery and cross-genre gameplay,” said Andrew Allanson, founder, and co-director, Ackk Studios. “These elements will draw the player deep into a bizarre, dreamlike world as Alex pursues his quest for answers. But what truths will he discover? How many layers does the onion have?”
A new trailer for the game was also released showing gameplay and story content to give players a preview of the upcoming adventure.
