Ysbryd Games revealed they will publish the Ackk Studios-developed YIIK I.V, an updated “definitive version” of YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG, which was released in 2019.
YIIK I.V is said to be a complete reimagining of the original with new combat mechanics, story events, characters, cutscenes, and music. All of which have been worked in the existing game. The game is currently in development for a PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam and GOG release in 2022.
Those who own YIIK will have access to the update when it launches, but the publisher has also released a story trailer to highlight the upcoming improvements. The update will be available for free for all versions of the game.
The new story content added introduces additional characters which add new challenges to the game including bosses and dungeons. This allowed the team to expand on the supporting cast. Further, the combat has been improved with better load times and balancing systems to make it more enjoyable.
YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG tells the story of a college graduate named Alex who has witnessed a woman vanishing from an elevator. In an effort to rescue her, he finds himself on an epic quest that gets grander the further down the rabbit hole he goes.
