XCOM: Chimera Squad Revealed as SRPG Where Humans and Aliens Work Together With Release Date
2K Games revealed the next entry of the XCOM series as XCOM: Chimera Squad, coming to PC on April 24. Right now, players can pre-order the game on Steam for $9.99 from the official website.
Developed by Firaxis, XCOM: Chimera Squad is set years after the humans took their freedom back from the alien threat and won the war for Early. However, when the Overlords fled the planet, the left their former soldier behind. Now, five years after the events of XCOM 2, humans and aliens have forged a civilization of cooperation and coexistence.
Players will find themselves in City 31, where now all citizens support interspecies alliances. This has led to the formation of the Chimera Squad, an elite force of human and alien agents, tasked with taking out those who aim to bring harm to the ones living in peace.
Each agent has a range of special abilities and now players can also utilize the Alien skills during encounters. Each member also has their own reasons for joining the group, which reflects their actions throughout the narrative. During gameplay, players will move and position the Squad as they tactically place each unit on a map and move them to cover. Battles are turn-based with a new breach-and-clear mechanics to complete missions.
