Arc System Works with PQube has announced that Worldend Syndrome, a romantic visual novel, is coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in 2019.
Along with the Arc System Works, a studio known for action fighting games, the characters will be designed by the lead artist for the BlazBlue franchise, Yuki Kato.
These characters will be set in a “picturesque seaside town and discover a nightmare that seems to recur every 100 years.” During gameplay, players will make choices in dialog with the other students. These choices will put the play down a route of the game’s many endings. The visual novel was also released on PlayStation Vita in Japan, but that version of the game will not be released in the west.
The trailer, with screenshots that can be seen below, depicts wonderfully drawn characters in hastily and creepy settings that statics through scenes from the game and characters to watch out for.
A notable line from the announcement trailer warns “Choose your friends/lovers/death wisely…”
No release date for Worldend Syndrome has been announced yet.
Arc Systems Works has previously announced that the game will be coming to North America for both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

Author’s Take: With a few visual novels under my belt, I can start to say I prefer the ones with tense premises if not ridiculous ones that, say, have you date birds. So I’ll be keeping my eye on this one.
