World Flipper Announces End of Service in Japan for February 2024; Global Confirms Eventual End of Service
Cygames’s official account for the Japanese version of their World Flipper mobile game have unfortunately announced that the game will be ending its service in Japan on February 20, 2024. Starting December 18, 2023, sales of paid currency and various Item Packs will end, though players will still be able to use these items until the end of the service.
The implementation of new characters through gacha and events will end on November 30, 2023 and the addition of new bosses and equipment items will end with an event scheduled for mid-December. Some events and bosses are currently in the process of being implemented so that they can be played as a permanent feature. An offline version is also in development for Japan, which allows players to view their collected characters.
For the time being, the End of Service date only applies to the Japanese version. However, in a separate news post published this morning by Kakao Games, the publishers of the Global version, they have acknowledged that while the western version is ‘expected to come to an end’, and that discussions are currently underway on specifics such as the exact end of service date and updates until that period. Updates for the Global version will maintain their current pace until then.

World Flipper blends RPG elements with pinball gameplay and features a pixel graphics artstyle. During gameplay, players will choose a unit that belongs to one of six different elements that can trigger a special skill. Players gather resources, collect new units, and level up to stay in the game as long as possible. There’s a level of strategy as players unlock the nearly endless combinations of characters, skills, and weapons. The title also featured a storyline with special events, daily dungeon challenges, boss encounters, and online play with up to three users.
