World End Syndrome Gameplay Preview – The Beginning of a Super Natural Adventure

Some of the best visual novels have a certain supernatural theme. However, that doesn’t mean that every title spouting science and mystery are necessarily good. With that said, Toybox’s upcoming visual novel World End Syndrome is off to a great start at grabbing our attention with its beautiful illustrations and environments, as well as a premise that has me begging for more.

It’s tough to start a visual novel knowing that you won’t be able to finish it, and from its opening, World End Syndrome is a visual novel that needs to be finished. Shortly after you begin the game, a character can be seen coming up from underwater. However, this scene is cut short and can only be experienced after players complete the game. The opening song is also cut short abruptly, which gave me an uneasy feeling and set up a dark tone in this otherwise beautiful looking visual novel.

Based on my time with the game, it’s true that there are some mysterious things going on. The protagonist has been left to carry the weight of a past that he is desperately trying to escape. During the story, that and more will be unveiled, but we just wanted to leave you with some English gameplay to give you a preview of what you can expect during this upcoming visual novel.

World End Syndrome is coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on May 2.
