Team Woodsalt announced that their indie adventure, Woodsalt, will launch on Nintendo Switch and PC-via Steam on October 13.
Woodsalt puts players in control of Emcy, who has found that he has been asleep after Earth evacuated to wake up 1000 years later on Nu-Terra, a city that exists within a bubble. Discovery of this new place and uncovering its secrets is up to the player as they explore the world and develop relationships with the other citizens.
Woodsalt features a Shounen odyssey style gameplay format that doesn’t include fetch quests or filler dialogue. Instead, the developer focused on creating each chapter to be a vital piece of the overarching puzzle to learn more about the city. The game also includes multiple endings based on the main and side quests completed, with a teased conclusion that involves cat collecting.
Woodsalt is inspired by 90s JRPGs as Emcy’s choices shape the game’s narrative. Players are able to take part in dialogue choices as well as befriend various characters throughout the adventure.
The developer released a new trailer that shows some gameplay but doesn’t really reveal too much about the game’s narrative. Even the screenshots seem to be vague about what players can actually do here.
