Wild Arms 2 Coming to PSN Later This Month; Making the First Three Entries Available on Modern Consoles

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced via the PlayStation Blog a handful of new games coming digitally to their Premium subscription service. While there are a lot of notable games, our eyes went straight to the classics section.

And wow, it seems like the publisher hasn’t forgotten about their JRPG roots with Legend of Dragoon at the top of the list. However, the other game that caught our eye was Wild Arms 2, released in 2o00 for PlayStation. The game will be digitally playable on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on February 21, 2023.

The significance of this announcement shows that the publisher recognizes they own IPs that fans want, even though we haven’t seen an entry in the series since the 2018 mobile game Wild Arms: Million Memories, which was exclusive to Japan and shut down in 2020.

Regardless, Wild Arms 2 being added to the PSN is fantastic for modern players to discover this series, with upscaled rendering and added accessibility features. What’s even more notable is how with this release, the first three entries in the series will be readily available for PlayStation owners to play. I should add that they can be purchased as standalone purchases or through the Premium Subscription service.

Both Wild Arms 1 and Wild Arms 3 are available now and have trophy support. Further, Wild Arms 1 features up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and custom video filters. So, it’s a mixed bag.

Fans of the series can only hope that one day Sony Interactive Entertainment returns to the series and offers fans a new modernized adventure. Honestly, doubt it, but we can dream.
