Ubisoft has released a new trailer that goes into detail about the Watch Dogs: Legion’s “play as anyone” tagline.
To reaffirm what was previously said about the game, the publisher reminded players that in Watch Dogs: Legion, players can play as any character. What does that mean exactly? Well, during the game, players will be able to recruit characters off the street. However, they’ll first need to complete a mission for them, which will then allow them to be selected as a playable character. Some characters will have bonus skills such as decreasing the amount you’ll have to pay to get a character out of jail or drinking to receive 50% less damage.
Each character obtained is a unique build that adds some type of upper hand in battles such as the ability to attract nearby guards or extra damage using a shotgun. Once obtained, players will need to give the characters a class. After that, it’s up to the player to use the character to level them up and unlock new perks such as “Shockwave”, a ground punch that will stagger nearby enemies, or explosive rounds. This leaves it up to the player to use the team they created and make them fit their playstyle. Furthermore, players can customize each character with cosmetic items. However, there is permadeath in the game so each of these characters can die. With that said, there’s always the option to surrender.
So it’s safe to say that not every character will play a huge story-driven role in the game, but I guess there’s still something cool about so many characters at your disposal.
