Warner Bros Reveals Cross-Over Platform Fighter ‘MultiVersus’; Rollback Netcode, Voice Work, and More
Publisher Warner Bros. Games and developer Player First Games have revealed their upcoming cross-over platform fighter, MultiVersus. This title is free-to-play and features characters from several Warner Bros IPs duking it out in 2D combative goodness. Cooperation and teamwork are at the forefront of the gameplay experience.
For instance, each character’s moveset complements the philosophy of teamwork with examples including Batman’s smoke bomb to inhibit the opposing team’s movement capabilities, Steve from Steven Universe emitting protective shields, and Bugs Bunny creating tunnels to create easier team travel across the stage. Still, even with cooperative play being a central focus, solo-play is also claimed to be present.
The playable cast is fully voiced, with their voice actors being recognizable such as Batman being voiced by Kevin Conroy. Cross-Play and Cross-Progression are supported across every platform alongside several social features like Guilds to enhance the general competitive desire. Leaderboards will also be added down the line.
Gameplay quality is a primary focus, with dedicated servers and rollback netcode for online play. Further, content will be continually added, like new characters and skins.
