After a shakeup occurred over at Square Enix recently, leaving the company without Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata and shutting down further development of the Final Fantasy XV DLC, the company has come forth to reveal that FFXV lead programmer Takeshi Aramaki will be Vice President of Development on Luminous Productions.
Aramaki-san will work with a team of developers on Square Enix’s proprietary creative toolset as they continue to grow. Additionally, he mentions in a statement left on the development tool’s website, “We are currently making steady progress on a brand new title. We cannot wait to show you, and we hope that you look forward to its reveal.”
Fans can only speculate what the team is currently working on, but I doubt the studio plans to announce a new Final Fantasy anytime soon. In the past, titles launched using Luminous, such as Final Fantasy XIV, were not met with high praise. However, the studio has continued its approach to create an all composing development tool that they can use for all their future products.
In case you were interested, they are hiring.
Author’s take: Remember that one tech demo showing like crazy magic and monsters, I think it was like 5 years ago. Yea, that was impressive.
