Action Metroidvania ‘Vernal Edge’ Launches on Kickstarter With Free Demo

Matthew Martinez has launched the Kickstarter for his Devil May Cry inspired action Metroidvania Vernal Edge in development for PC.

Vernal Edge is an action-adventure game created using Game Maker Studio 2. The developer is asking for $50,000 to help fund the development of the game to launch.

The project is large in scope, which is why the developer requires the funds to implement a compelling narrative and battle system. Additionally, the team will spend time fleshing out the environments and character animations to the best of their abilities.

Players can pledge $20 to receive a digital copy of the game. Currently, there’s a free demo available to preview the game’s action systems.

Vernal Edge tells the story of Vernal, who has traveled to the floating city of Haricot to exact revenge on her long lost father. On her journey, she meets a cyborg named Chervil who happens to also be an amnesiac. The find out together that others are also searching for her father and many enemies stand in their way.

Players can utilize the game’s combat system that features juggling mechanics and combos that chain together. Additionally, there are charge attacks and special magic attacks that Vernal can use.
