PQube announced that the Agate developed RPG sim Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story is now available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam.
What started as a Kickstarter, Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story began its life in development named Valthirian Arc: Red Covenant. The game was successfully funded in March 2017 and soon after was picked up be publisher PQube to help bring the game to consoles.
Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story is an RPG with town build systems. Players will build a school of heroes as they assume the role of the principal of the academy. This portion of the game allows players to train heroes and upgrade rooms. This also includes choosing how to discipline your students and who will be allowed to attend your school.
Additionally, players can send the students out on missions to acquire items and fight monsters. The game features a real-time strategy combat system that allows players to switch out students and choose when the best time to attack will be.
Agate is an Indonesian developer who has released games prior to Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story. Also, the Valthirian Arc series is not new to the studio, Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story is the third entry and by far the most impressive looking in terms of graphics. That’s not to say the sprite work of the previous titles wasn’t cute.

Author’s take: I enjoy seeing success stories such as this one. Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story looks ambitious and interesting so I’d like to find out how the developer balanced the multiple systems and features. I wonder how the school management system affects the story.
