Aquaplus has unveiled a lengthy broadcast detailing several facets of the upcoming turn-based RPG and the finale of the Utawarerumono series, Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered.
Voice actors Kentaro Tone, Yuuya Uchida, and Yuuki Kuwahara are showcased playing the game’s PlayStation 5 version, which is not planned for localization.
Past and Present Rediscovered is a sequel to Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten and is currently planned as the final entry. The story once again centers on Oshtor, Munechika, Mikazuchi, and Shunya, in a conflict in the empire of Yamato.
Set under the rule of the Mikado, Yamato initially stands at peace following the defeat of forces from the long-lost Arva Shulan. However, that calm doesn’t last. Monsters begin appearing throughout the land, and a series of scattered incidents start pointing toward a larger threat.
The gameplay is structured as a traditional JRPG with a large world to explore. Battles use the returning Action Ring turn-based system, allowing timing-based inputs during combat. Players can also directly use Akuruka masks in battle.
Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered will launch on PC via Steam in English on May 27, 2026.
