Utawarerumono ‘Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten’ Makes Its Way to the West This September
After a few leaks about the new Utawarerumono project, we now have an official announcement for Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten. Publisher Shiravune will handle the English release of the RPG. Along with the announcement the company revealed the first English trailer for the game. It’ll be available worldwide on Steam on September 8, 2022.
Monochrome Mobius celebrates the series’ 20th anniversary. The game opts to not use the Utawarerumono title as the developers feel it’s something thematically different from the other games. The original name for the series is supposed to indicate a person whose legend left a huge mark on the world, so this story is probably closer to an unseen side of the events.
As far as the story is concerned, we already know it offers a look at events that happen when Oshtor, Mikazuchi, and Munechika were younger. A new white-haired girl called Shunya seems to be a very important character in the new game.
Several screenshots have been provided, viewable below:
The game’s Steam page detailed the primary cast and their voice actors/actresses. Character renders were also shared on the game’s official website.

The latest localized release for this series is Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen. This title is a remake of the original Utawarerumono, which was never officially released in the west. The title tells the story of events leading up to Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth; both titles were originally published and localized by Atlus in the west. All three games were also released on PC by Shiravune.
Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen contains extra content, remastered visuals, and a necessary piece in the puzzle for Utawarerumono fans to understand the entire story. Every scene has received an enhancement, with each illustration being presented in HD. Additionally, battles are displayed on complete 3D fields, and a new Special Extended Mode has been added.
