Utawarerumono Series Returns to PC With Release Dates for Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth

ShiraVN announced that they have partnered with Aquaplus to release Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth on PC-via Steam on January 23.

The series originally debuted on PC in 2002 and since has received anime adaptations and other media spin-offs. The release of these two titles brings the series back to the PC for visual novel fans to enjoy. The translations from the console version will be used for this release, which was an excellent localization effort made by publisher Atlus.

During the story, players will meet Haku, who is suffering from amnesia and is rescued by a strange girl. Throughout the story, Haku will learn the state of the region and meet new friends along with way as he finds himself in the middle of something much bigger than he ever expected. The story has many moments of emotional build up the player will often know more about what’s going on than the characters in the game, but it just makes all the more heart-wrenching.

Gameplay focuses mainly on visual novel storytelling, but throughout the game, players will be able to enjoy some strategic RPG offerings. Yes, these characters are at war and will often need to defend themselves against invading enemies.

Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth are both available for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4.
