Atlus & Vanillaware Announce Fantasy Tactical RPG ‘Unicorn Overlord’ for March 2024; PS4, PS5, Switch & Xbox

Atlus and Vanillaware announced a new tactical fantasy RPG, Unicorn Overlord, coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on March 8, 2024.

There will be an expansive world players can traverse and new allies to gather on their journey as they attempt to lead the liberation. Further, players can cultivate an army with over 60 unique characters comprising various races, like humans, angels, and beasts.

In Unicorn Overlord, players must prepare to defy destiny and immerse themselves in a regal odyssey. This RPG promises an unforgettable journey. Brought to life by the creators of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, this game seamlessly blends overworld exploration and a unique battle system, all in the iconic Vanillaware art style.

As a player, you will traverse a vibrant and enchanting world, forging a formidable army comprised of over 60 distinct characters, all while carving out your legacy across five illustrious nations in this grand fantasy adventure. Unleash your kingdom from the shackles of adversity and seize control of your fate in Unicorn Overlord.

The two companies call this the “rebirth of fantasy tactical RPGs.”

Although the PS4 release will be digital-only, the other consoles will receive a Standard edition. The Collector’s edition of Unicorn Overlord will include the physical Unicorn Overlord game, a Premium Edition Box, a 16-bit BGM Soundtrack CD (two discs with ten tracks on each), a 132-page artbook, and an original card game featuring 239 cards, tokens and markers.

The Collector’s edition will also include the ATLUS X Vanillaware Heraldry Pack, a pre-order DLC, which lets you customize the Liberation Army’s flag with emblem designs from Odin Sphere, Dragon’s Crown, and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.
