Turns Out Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’s Physical Version Does Not Require a Download to Play

The official Monster Hunter Twitter account released a statement clarifying that the soon-to-be-released Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will not, in fact, require any downloads or data installations to begin playing. This news comes after a recent image of the game’s physical copy stating that a download was required, supposedly around 15 GB of storage.

Whether or not the image of the physical copy was false or was simply an error with early prints, it is relieving to see that the physical copy for the title will not be ineptly handled. There is a day 1 patch requiring 0.5 GB of space, but that is an understandable and far more lenient price of space to pay.

Speaking of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, we released our review of the game earlier today, so be sure to check that out.

During the adventure, players will encounter Lilia and Reverto, who will return from the original Monster Hunter Stories. The duo is on a mission to capture your companion Razewing Ratha before it can awaken its destructive power foretold in the prophecy of the Wings of Ruin. Hot on their heels are a group of Hunters and Riders who seek to capture Razewing Ratha for their own nefarious purposes.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin coming to Nintendo Switch and PC-via Steam on July 9, 2021.
