Turn-Based RPG ‘Wandering Sword’ Announces September 2023 PC Release Date in New Trailer
Spiral Up Games has announced that The Swordman Studio-developed turn-based RPG Wandering Sword will launch for PC via Steam on September 15, 2023.
Wandering Sword is developed in Unreal Engine 4. During gameplay, players can explore the lands as they discover new martial arts forms, which can be taught to other party members. Further, weapons can be mastered through a rather complex upgrade tree.
Combat is grid-based and turn-based, but there is also a real-time mode if players wish to play fast. There are multiple endings to the adventure depending on the choices that you make during dialogue and the side quests you complete alongside the main quest.
One look at the trailer, and you’ll see the influence of the 2D-HD game Octopath Traveler. The video shows off exploration and animations that heavily resemble the Square Enix JRPG, with a battle system similar to Live A Live. I’m interested to see how far these similarities go. Hopefully, the adventure is distinct enough to stand out on its own.
We’ll keep you updated on the release of Wandering Sword.
