Frozenbyte and Cooldown Games have delayed Trine 6: Together in Time to March 4, 2027, following feedback gathered through the game’s private playtest.
The additional development time will be used to introduce a second puzzle mode, revise hero abilities, and address feedback on combat, camera, online co-op, and the tutorial. The delay has also given the developers time to prepare a GOG release alongside the other versions at launch.
One of the biggest changes is the introduction of Freestyle and Classic Puzzle Modes across the entire game. Freestyle retains the more open-ended design players have already tested, allowing puzzles to be approached with different heroes and abilities. Classic Mode will instead take inspiration from earlier Trine games, building puzzles around particular character abilities, hero switching in solo play, and closer coordination between players in co-op.
Both modes support single-player and two- to four-player local and online co-op. Players can change puzzle modes during an existing playthrough without losing their overall progress. Switching during a level requires reloading from the most recent checkpoint so the appropriate puzzle layouts can be loaded. Puzzle mode is also separate from combat difficulty and character-selection settings.
Combat is receiving adjustments as well. Easy difficulty will become more forgiving for players primarily interested in the puzzles, platforming, and story.
Camera behavior was another recurring issue during testing. The single-player camera is being adjusted, while separate camera behaviors are being developed specifically for local and online co-op. Multiplayer interactions involving shared puzzle consoles will also be simplified, particularly during three- and four-player sessions. Online stability, responsiveness, and synchronization remain under development.
Tutorials are being revised to explain each character and their abilities earlier, and additional tooltips will provide more information about available options.
Players who participated in the July-August test will automatically receive access to the upcoming build, while additional players can register for consideration.
Trine 6: Together in Time is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
