The Philadelphia-based indie game publisher and developer Retroware has unveiled a new trailer for its side-scrolling beat ’em up, Toxic Crusaders, ahead of its planned Q3 2025 launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
The latest trailer showcases the arcade-style gameplay system, featuring melees and various playable characters, alongside character-switching functionality that enables seamless swapping mid-battle.
Based on the 1991 cartoon series, which had only one season, this game follows the titular group as they defend Tromaville against Dr. Killemoff and his army of Radiant Rangers. The game will feature local co-op with up to four friends, alongside seven playable characters, namely Toxie, Nozone, Junkyard, Major Disaster, Headbanger, Yvonne, and Mrs. Junko.
A free demo is available on Steam. A major announcement about the title is planned to be made at the San Diego Con’s Troma panel on July 26, 2025.
