New ‘Touken Ranbu Warriors’ Trailer Shows Team Five A.K.A. The Yamanbagiri Duo of Hot Blade Boys in Action
Koei Tecmo has revealed a new trailer for Touken Ranbu Warriors. This time we get to see the fifth team in action, which is composed of two blade boys whose name is Yamanbagiri. The Musou-styled action game developed by Koei Tecmo’s teams Omega Force and Ruby Party was released in Japan earlier this year and will be available on the Nintendo Switch in English on May 24, 2022.
Touken Ranbu is a very popular multimedia franchise created by Nitroplus and DMM Games. Focused on a historical Japanese setting, it tells the story of blades of great historical impact who take the form of men also known as Touken Danshi. As revisionists try to alter the past, the Government of Time sends the Saniwa to summon those men and fight to protect the timeline from tampering.
Touken Ranbu Warriors covers an alternative story in which the Saniwa’s base, Honmaru, is attacked. In the midst of the confusion, this leader figure is gone and only a few blades perservere in continuing at that specific point of time waiting for the Saniwa’s return. Those characters are divided into five teams and a new, mysterious blade boy called Omokage is also introduced in the game.
Koei Tecmo has already released videos for the previous teams. The first group includes Mikazuki Munechika, Sengo Muramasa, and Tonbokiri. Meanwhile, the second team has Kasen Kanesada, Ichigo Hitofuri, Namazuo Toushiro, and Hyuga Masamune. Team 3 has Heshikiri Hasebe, Yagen Toushiro, Tomoegata Naginata, and the newcomer Omokage. The fourth group allows players to pick Tsurumaru Kuninaga, Shokudaikiri Mitsutada and Okurikara.
The fifth trailer gives us a glimpse at the final team in the game. This is the shortest group including only two members: Yamanbagiri Kunihiro, and Yamanbagiri Chougi. Both of them are uchigatanas (a Japanese sword) with Kunihiro being a copy of Chougi, but both of them being evenly matched as far as their power is concerned. Kunihiro is voiced by Tomoaki Maeno, while Chougi’s seiyuu is Kengo Takanashi.
