Touken Ranbu: Online English and Traditional Chinese Version Shutting Down August 2023

Johren, the distributor for the English and Traditional Chinese versions of the Touken Ranbu ONLINE browser game have just announced today that the game will be ending its service on August 21st, 2023 at 8:59 PM PDT, due to a decision of the publisher to reduce the amount of titles that they will distribute on their platform. Players can continue to play the game as normal until the August shutdown date, but starting from June 27, 2023, game content updates, such as new events and the addition of new Touken Danshi, will not be performed.

Furthermore, purchases for in-game currency will cease on July 17th, 2023, and any unused currency cannot be converted back to Credits. It is important to note that this end of service notice only applies to the English and Traditional Chinese version. The Japanese version will continue to operate normally. Johren has stated however, that data transfer to the Japanese version cannot be done.

Touken Ranbu -ONLINE- is a game about training powerful warriors formed from fabled swords. It was originally released in Japan in 2015 and has since been adapted into many other media, including three anime series. Touken Ranbu tells the story of the Saniwa, who has been forced to go back in time with a Blade Battalion to impede a group of revisionists from changing the past.
