Shmup x Tactics RPG Touhou Spell Carnival Website & Teaser Movie Released

The game is scheduled for release in Spring 2024 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, and it claims to be a mixture of a shmup and a tactics RPG.

Touhou Spell Carnival is a new type of bullet-hell RPG that combines bullet-hell shooting with the tactics RPG genre. The game allows players to enjoy strategic battles in which they must respond to various stage gimmicks and constantly changing barrage to conquer the stage.

Story Synopsis:

A fantasy land.

A remote place isolated from the outside world by a ward, inhabited by beings such as humans and ghosts.

One day, Reimu Hakurei, a shrine maiden at the Hakurei Shrine, sees mysterious pillars rising in various places in Gensougo.

The pillars signaled the beginning of the Chakuto Matsuri, a festival hosted by Yukari Yakumo, in which contestants compete for spell cards held by each other.

Reimu Hakurei joins the battle for the spell cards in order to find out Yukari Yakumo’s true intentions.

A priestess at the Hakurei Shrine in Gensougo.

She usually spends her time at Hakurei Shrine, where there are few worshippers, cleaning, skipping work, drinking tea, and relaxing. She mainly specializes in exterminating ghosts and resolving strange occurrences in Gensougo.

Marisa Kirisame (CV: Yumi Uchiyama)

An ordinary wizard who is a curious troublemaker. She runs the Kirisame Magic Shop in the magical forest. She is a cynical person, but she also has an upright and hardworking side, making her hate losing.
