Touhou: New World Announces PS4, PS5, Switch & PC Release Dates; Digital Deluxe Edition Revealed

XSEED announced that the Ankake Spa-developed adventure bullet-hell Touhou: New World will launch for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 digitally in North America and Europe on September 12, 2023. 

The game was also confirmed to release for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch on July 13, 2023.

The standard digital release will cost $24.99/€24.99/£19.99 on all platforms. On the other hand, the PC Digital Deluxe edition will cost $34.77/€34.77/£27.81, consisting of a digital soundtrack and artbook.

Moreover, the digital soundtrack will be sold separately on PC for $9.99/€9.99/£7.99, and the digital artbook will cost $4.99/€4.99/£3.99 on the same platform.

Touhou: New World is from the same developers of 2016’s Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity. The game takes place within the Touhou Project world and has players return to Gensokyo for new battles and adventures.

This time, the barrier protecting this world is breached by an outsider with a supernatural obsession, which brings chaos to Gensokoyo. Reimu and her friend Marisa set out to uncover the true source of the chaos and bring peace to the world.

During gameplay, players can explore 3D environments and fight against various enemies. However, the real fun of the game is during boss encounters when players will need to dodge and strategize attacks. The playable characters have various skills to take down the baddies, but the bosses have several methods of showing players this series’ bullet-hell roots.

Further, players can customize and upgrade the characters for further progress. Every weapon, piece of armor, and accessory found has randomized stats, so mix and match to make the most of them or reforge equipment to get the perfect combination.
