Restaurant Sim ‘Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya’ Coming to Switch in May; Holds Overwhelmingly Positive User Score on Steam

Phoenixx announced they will publish the Dichroic Purpilion-developed restaurant simulator Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya on Nintendo Switch on May 2, 2024.

Released on Steam in 2023, Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya has received an Overwhelmingly Positive review score from players, who cite customization and cozy systems as offering a balanced experience.

Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya breaks the mold of the usual Touhou game. Instead of combat, players must utilize cooking and customer service to achieve victory”, said Youzi KK, founder of Dichroic Purpilion. “We are very grateful for the success that Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya has experienced on Steam, and we look forward to bringing the mobile restaurant experience to a new platform.”

Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya invites players into the world of Gensokyo, where they help Mystia Lorelei rebuild her once-popular tavern, now reduced to ruins by an unruly customer. With debts mounting, the game starts with Mystia managing a modest food cart, aspiring to pay off her debts and restore the tavern to its former glory.

Players engage in a dynamic simulation of running the top tavern in the Touhou universe. By day, they must gather recipes, source ingredients from the wild, and cultivate fresh produce. Building relationships with locals and hiring employees is crucial for handling the daily operations. Time management is key, as players balance daytime activities with the need to open the tavern doors each evening to serve the waiting customers. Evening hours are bustling with business. Players must cater to each visitor’s unique tastes, preferences, and budgets. The game challenges players to deliver prompt and friendly service, aiming to satisfy customers in succession to earn substantial profits. However, any lapse in management can lead to dissatisfaction among guests, drawing criticism from Mystia’s mentors.

Attention to detail is vital, especially when special Touhou characters like Reimu and Akyuu visit. These characters have specific culinary preferences and often request off-menu items, challenging players to intuitively cater to their desires for special rewards. The game expands beyond the food cart, allowing players to scout new locations across six familiar Touhou settings, including Hakurei Shrine and Human Village. Profits can be reinvested in the business, allowing for enhancements like cute costumes for Mystia, decorative items to boost the ambiance, and unlocking music tracks to entertain customers during evening service. This blend of strategic management, character interaction, and immersive Touhou universe settings makes Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya a captivating experience.
