We’re all about having fun and what better way to have some fun than to make a list, right? Well, that’s just what we are going to do, and this week we are going to share our top ten list of trainers from video games.
It might not be the definitive list, but it is our list, so be sure to correct us in the comments below:
10: Sonic’s Trainers – Sonic the Hedgehog – Not an actual trainer you say? We beg to differ. Sonic’s feet would be in bad shape if it wasn’t for his iconic trainers and we are here to show them appreciation. Although we should point out that we are referring to the video game version of Sonic and not his recent movie counterpart.
9: Fishing Trainer – World of Warcraft – Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day, but teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime. That’s the mindset that led us to choose the Fishing trainer from World of Warcraft as a trainer who had to be on this list. Step aside Paladin Trainer.
8: Zack – Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core – If you’re scratching your head wondering how we came to include Zack on this list, then you aren’t alone. However, technically, he taught many members of Shinra’s military how to do the ultimate squat. We feel that is enough to earn a place for Zack on this list as an official trainer.
7: Phil – Hercules Action Game – The mighty Hercules wouldn’t be who is today if it wasn’t for Phil setting up an annoying course for him to go through. This course teaches players how to get through obstacles and enemies and prepares them for the rest of the game.
6: GLaDOS – Portal – With cake being the main incentive for finding your way through deadly puzzles while using a portal gun, GLaDOS is one of the best trainers out there. This might be because she is so eager to serve you a cake, we aren’t really sure.
5: Wii Fit Trainer – Wii Fit – While some might have a crush on this pale exercise enthusiast, we only see one of the most successful and recognizable trainers around. If we aren’t mistaken, she is also the one who made yoga pants a fashion statement. So add “trendsetter” to her list of accomplishments.
4: Coach Frank – Skate 3 – Known as the professor of “Skate-ology”, Skate 3 wouldn’t be anything without the likes of Coach Frank. We are extremely grateful for his teachings and have the utmost amount of respect for him.
3: Beast Tamer – MapleStory – There’s more than meets the eye when it comes to this adorable hero. The Beast Tamer, Chase, has gained the ability to speak to animals and sets out on an adventure. Along the way, she’ll tame powerful and cute animal friends who will join her on her road trip as well as fight alongside her. We’re all about friendship here, so Chase gets on this list and she’s available now until August 27.
2: Byleth – Fire Emblem: Three Houses – Now we should make this clear that we are specifically only putting the Byleth who is teaching the Golden Deer house because that is arguably the only house that truly matters. Regardless, Byleth is an all-around amazing trainer who excels in combat, strategy, all areas of academia, and romance, what more could you ask for?
1: Red – Pokémon series – Can you think of a better trainer that this god of a Pokémon trainer? No Pokémon is safe from this Pokémon catching machine. Even though most of them will rot in the Pokébank for the rest of eternity, the first six Pokémon caught will likely be the strongest Pokémon in the world. I mean, everyone knows the only reason that Pidgeot made it to the elite four was that you taught it “Fly”.
