Ubisoft Reveals Julian Gerighty Will Oversee The Division Brand; Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 in Development
Massive Entertainment shared an announcement revealing some updates to the studio. Creative director at Ubisoft Julian Gerighty has now been appointed Executive Producer for the Tom Clancy’s The Division brand.
Julian’s new responsibilities include overseeing all games and products related to the series, including Tom Clancy’s The Division 3, which hasn’t been formally revealed. Massive Entertainment will lead the development of the game. The studio works under Ubisoft.
Julian will still be a part of the team creating Star Wars Outlaws.
“I remember the gameplay promise – the co-op, PvP, the open world RPG aspects. Its world seemed very relatable and very realistic, like you could really be an agent for change within it.”
When it comes to the state of The Division 2, “We may have over 40 million players, but The Division is still in its early years as a franchise. There are so many incredible stories to tell, places to explore and people to protect. “
A key throughline, Julian stresses, is that every single expression of The Division needs to be of the highest quality. “I think that we delivered that with Tom Clancy’s The Division’s cutting-edge visuals, incredible gameplay, and promise to the player that they can’t get this experience anywhere else, and then again with Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. It’s about refinement, it’s about pushing the quality bar consistently forward.”
When asked if there’s anything else Gerighty wants to let players of The Division know about its future, he brought up the talent of the Ubisoft development teams. “There are a huge number of talented developers currently working on the brand, and I think that having more consistency can only make everybody’s work sing.”
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 follows the outbreak of the Green Poison virus. During this time, multiple Division agents find themselves defending a settlement of civilians when ISAC, their advanced computer system, abruptly goes offline. In the midst of this turmoil, the player, functioning as a Division Agent, receives a distress call from Washington, D.C. A formidable new force is assaulting the Joint Task Force’s (JTF) settlement, prompting the player to heed the call and travel to Washington, D.C. for assistance.
Upon arrival, the Agent is briefed by Manny Ortega, who serves as the Division’s controller for the city. Ortega provides a comprehensive overview of the dire circumstances facing the city. The Agent is then directed to collaborate with another agent, Alani Kelso, to aid civilian settlements, liberate the city from various criminal factions, and work towards restoring ISAC, their vital operational system.
