Nitroplus’ ‘Tokyo Necro’ Western Release Announced By JAST USA

JAST USA has announced Tokyo Necro during their Anime Expo 2022 panel. The PC-only visual novel developed by Nitroplus was originally released in Japan in 2016. While more details haven’t been announced yet, the game is already fully translated and edited so its release shouldn’t be too far off.

Tokyo Necro is a futuristic visual novel in a setting where living dead exist thanks to Necromancers. The story follows two protagonists, Kibanohara Ethica (voice: Aji Sanma) and Nagaoka Souun (voice: Muro Genki). Both of them use martial arts to defeat the undead creatures that terrorize Tokyo’s populace as a private group. Their strength is widely recognized and they have made quite a career in defeating those who come back from death.

One day, Souun finds a mysterious young girl during a mission. This individual has no memories of who she was except her name “Hougyou Ilia” but it’s clear that she needs protection from the necromancers. Ilia is voiced by Yuzuhara Miu, whose previous works include Mell from Meteor World Actor, Izuho Konami from Secret Kiss is Sweet and Tender, and Ako from the Doukyuusei remake.

Tokyo Necro’s original concept comes from Fukami Makoto, who did the Tsunemori, Kogami and Makishima episodes of Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness. He shared the scriptwriting with Shimomura Vio, whose works include You and Me and Her: A Love Story, Sumaga and Axanael. Main illustrator is Oosaki Shin’ya (Hanachirasu) with Makoto Ishiwata handling mechanical designs, and mob characters by minoa and Yamada Uiro.
